Shree Vakretunda Mahakaya is a very popular shloka that is chanted to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The mantra describes the big trunk that Lord Ganesha has and a huge body along with the splendor of suns. People do believe that chanting this mantra Lord Ganesha will help in removing all the obstacles from our life. In fact, it is also believed that among all of the prayers that are chanted for Lord Ganesha this one was the favorite of Lord Ganesha.

Mantra:

                                       श्री वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्य कोटी समप्रभा

                                        निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्व-कार्येशु सर्वदा।।

Translation:

                               Shree Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha

                               Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva-Kaaryeshu Sarvada ||

The mantra is chanted for Lord Ganesha who has a massive body and a curved trunk and who is equal to millions of splendor of suns to bless us so that we do not face any obstacles in the path of our lives.

Vakratunda – Curved trunk

Mahakaya – Huge form

Surya – Sun

Koti – Billion

Sama – Equal

Prabha – Splendor

Nirvighnam – No obstacles

Kurume – Give me

Deva – God

Sarva – All

Kaaryeshu – Endeavours

Sarvada – Always

Significance of this mantra

According to Vedas, we chant this mantra before starting any new work or begin our day with this mantra to allay all the obstacles from our lives. The mantra helps to develop cognitive function. By chanting this mantra while meditating one can increase the growth of his memory and also the shloka helps in making a drastic change in your body’s energy level.

This mantra not only helps to keep your mental and emotional well-being but also has some hidden physical benefits. By chanting this mantra puts pressure on your lips, tongue, and vocal cords hence stimulating your hypothalamus glands which help in increasing your immunity. It also helps to keep your heart rate slow that allows the proper regulation of blood. 

The mantra allays all the negative thoughts and makes your mind stress-free. This bakra tunda mantra helps to seek the blessings from Lord Ganesha who helps to keep all the obstacles away from your path and guides you towards new and right directions.
